The Middle Years School
Amman Academy has been an authorized MYP school since 2013. Therefore, we are currently implementing the Middle Years Programme (MYP) in grades 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.
Amman Academy works in parallel with the IB Learner Profile, which entails the attributes that MYP students need to have to interact effectively within their society. Our aim is for learners to acquire and apply a set of skills that are valuable within the classroom environment and in real life situations outside the academic arena as well.
Students cover all subject requirements of the Ministry of Education with additional enrichments applied to the regular curriculum in order to fully implement the Middle Years Programme (MYP). Subjects taken at AA include Arabic, English, Math, Science, Religion, Individuals and Societies, Digital Design (Computer Technology), Visual Arts, Music, Product Design (Design Technology), and PE.
Our staff is encouraged to apply various forms of technology and teaching strategies to create the best learning environment possible for students. Facilities such as the media center, science labs, laptop trolleys, gymnasium, DT workshops and music and art rooms are utilized regularly in our students' formal education to enhance their knowledge through practice.
A wide variety of academic, athletic, community service and other extra-curricular activities are made available to students. Academic activities include reading programmes, science fairs, academic field trips, and scientific research projects.
After school sports activities include football, basketball, swimming, taekwondo, and gymnastics. We offer a drama club and language clubs as extra-curricular activities in addition to the different recreational field trips and school events. Students also serve their community by taking part in various activities such as the annual winter campaign, which involves collecting provisions and visiting less fortunate families.
